TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Authorities say a Florida state trooper jailed on a sexual battery charge has been fired.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Mark Welch said trooper Charles Odom was fired Thursday and that “this type of behavior” is not tolerated.

Odom was arrested Wednesday after authorities investigated the assault charge. A woman said Odom assaulted her after being pulled over last week in Wakulla County.

The 52-year-old Odom is in the Leon County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Arrest followed an investigation by highway patrol, Wakulla County authorities and state prosecutors.
