Man punches baby in attempted carjacking
MIAMI (AP) – A Hialeah man accused of trying to carjack a woman outside a Miami store then punching a baby to “keep her from crying” is facing criminal charges.
Francisco Oses is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Feb. 4. He is charged with attempted carjacking, four counts of attempted kidnapping and aggravated child abuse.
Police said Oses, 37, tried to carjack 29-year-old Jessica Baez in December. Baez, who was waiting for her husband at a Walgreens parking lot, had four children in the Mitsubishi Endeavor.
According to police reports, Oses punched Baez during a struggle for the SUV, then struck the 18-month-old girl. He fled the scene.
