Crist pushes plan that saves seniors money

By Staff | Dec 22, 2008

TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Floridians 60 and older are saving a little bit of money if they’re in the state’s new discount drug program.

Gov. Charlie Crist on Monday touted the program that saved an average of $28.74 for more than 66,000 citizens who have participated since it went into effect a year ago.

More than 4,300 retail pharmacies accept the Florida Discount Drug Card. Participating pharmacies must agree to the negotiated prices. The program began Dec. 20, 2007.

Individuals can qualify for a discount card if they are over 60 years old and don’t have prescription drug coverage or in the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage gap.
