Grandma asks sheriffs to check missing girl lead

By Staff | Nov 25, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ The grandmother of a missing Florida girl whose mother has been charged with her murder implored investigators to look into a recent sighting of the girl.

Cindy Anthony spoke at a press conference Tuesday. She said that she doesn’t know if a photo taken of a girl resembling 3-year-old Caylee Anthony is her granddaughter, but wants it investigated. Caylee’s mother, Casey, has been charged with her murder.

A detective hired by the family who appeared at the press conference said the photo was taken at mall in November but that investigators aren’t willing to study the statement of the woman who took it.

Sheriff’s officials were not immediately available for comment.

Caylee Anthony was last seen June 16. She was reported missing a month later.
