Orange Co. deputy shoots suspect

By Staff | Nov 22, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ Orange County authorities say a deputy shot a man who they believe was involved in an armed robbery at an Orlando convenience store.

According to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the man was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life threatening. Two other suspects are still at large.

Witnesses told investigators that three men were involved in an armed robbery that occurred shortly before midnight Saturday. The witnesses gave authorities a description of the suspects’ vehicle, which was later spotted at another convenience store.

The suspect exited the vehicle after authorities pulled it over, and made “overt movements” toward the deputy. That’s when the shots were fired.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the sheriff’s office are investigating the shooting.
