Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library announces August programs
Next month’s roster of activities at Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
ADULTS
English Caf
10 a.m., Fridays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
6 p.m. Tuesdays, August 7, 14, 21, 28
Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.
Craft Corner: Knitting and Crocheting
3:30 p.m., Mondays, Aug. 6, 13, 20, 27
Bring your ideas to light and make a handmade treasure. Materials will be provided for newcomers, or bring your own project to work on. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library. Registration is requested.
Chess Anyone?
5:30 p.m., Tuesdays, Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28
Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Everyone is welcome. Bring a personal chess set, if preferred.
FAMILY
Family Storytime
10:15 a.m., Wednesdays, Aug. 22, 29
9:30 a.m., Thursdays, Aug. 23, 30
This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes.
Baby-Parent Rhyme Time
10:15 a.m. Thursdays, Aug. 23, 30
Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Please bring your library card.
Back-to-School Craft Program
4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15
Come and decorate your own special notebook for the new school year. All supplies provided. Parents welcome. Please register online or pick up tickets at the library.
Preschool Storytime
11 a.m., Wednesdays, Aug. 22, 29
11 a.m., Thursdays, Aug. 23, 30
Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) attend this storytime independently while parents or caregivers wait nearby in the library building. This storytime includes activities that require more participation and a longer attention span. Each preschool storytime lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.
