Children Play … Parents May program offers parents a break
In response to an identified need introduced by lodging partners throughout Lee County, The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum has developed a resort program, called Children Play … Parents May.
Family vacations are great, but parents may dream about a few hours of adult play time.
Maybe Mom and Dad have shopping in mind without the stress of assuring fragile gift shop objects remain on the shelves. Perhaps a favorite book is calling or they wish they could have a meal accompanied by just grown-up conversation.
In the “Children Play … Parents May” program, drop children off and enjoy two hours of alone time. Children will read about mollusks, play educational games, create shell craft projects, make fact wheels or pop-up books, and do creative writing.
The program is for ages 5-12. Cost is $15.
Classes will be held from 9 a.m.-11:30 on the following days: Tuesday, July 23, 28 and 30; Aug. 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27; and Sept. 15, 17, 22 and 24.
Register by 3 p.m. Monday for Tuesday sessions and 3 p.m. Wednesday for Thursday sessions.
To register, call Diane Orvis Thomas at 395-2233, ext. 11, or e-mail dothomas@shellmuseum.org.
