Cape Coral Lake Kennedy

Senior Center

– Turner Talents, an afternoon of song and dance, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Cost is $10.

– Clogging classes will be held from 11 a.m.-noon and noon-1 p.m. Mondays for beginners and from 1-2 p.m. Mondays for intermediates. Cost is $6 for members and $10 for non-members.

– Marco Island Trolley Tour and Snook Inn on March 20. Leave the center at 9:15 a.m. Cost is $76 for members and $86 for non-members.

– Quickie Jewelry Crafting with Lynda Lea from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. First class is $14 for members and $18 for non-members. Supplies included.

– New dimensions inline dancing with Aida Pineda from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Cost $3 for members and $7 for non-members.

– Treasures of the tide pools from 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Resident fee is $15 and non-resident fee is $18.

– Wedding Expo from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2. No registration required.

– Dolphin biology and behavior from 7-8 p.m. March 12. Resident fee is $10 and non-resident fee is $12. Registration required.

– Advanced saltwater fishing from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 14. Resident fee is $45 and non-resident fee is $50. Registration required.

Rotary Park Environmental Center

Rotary Park Environmental Center, 5505 Rose Garden Road, presents:

– Friday: Star party from 6-10 p.m. with the Southwest Florida Astronomical Society. No flashlights. Free event.

– Saturday: Tropical plant bazaar from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Four Mile Cove/Eco Preserve.

Extreme Makeover Mailbox contest

Mailbox Improvement Month is not until May, but the Fort Myers/Cape Coral Post Offices are holding an “Extreme Makeover Mailbox” contest in preparation for the month.

Check out the mailbox and see if it needs a face lift. If so, make plans now to spiff it up and enter the contest. The rules are simple:

– Take a photo of the existing mailbox that needs a makeover.

– Make the changes and take a photo of the new, mailbox.

– Mail both photos, along with name, address and phone number, to USPS Consumer Council, 79 Mid Cape Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33991.

Entries will be accepted until March 31.

Big Fish Fest

A local group called Big Fish Fest is organizing a nonprofit fund-raiser Wednesday-Thursday at Alliance for the Arts, 10019 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers.

There will be arts and crafts, live entertainment at the amphitheater, growers, children’s crafts area, raffles and food booths. There will be 80 vendor booths and more than $1,000 worth of items have been donated by local artists and businesses for a raffle.

Three nonperishable food items gets patrons a free raffle ticket.

The event will benefit God’s Packet, a food bank/thrift store and chapel in North Fort Myers, and the Salvation Army, as well as other local food pantries and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Grande Dames Tea

The Grande Dames Tea honoring philanthropists Berne Davis, Eleanore Kleist and Barbara Mann will be held from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, 1380 Colonial Blvd. Fort Myers. Tickets are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling the theater at 278-4422. Table sponsorships are also available.

Guided tours of Burroughs home

Guided tours of the historic Burroughs home in Fort Myers are now available at 10 a.m. Fridays. The cost is $10. Reservations are not required, but are appreciated, at 337-9505.

Bowditch Point Park

Take an educational walk through Matanzas Pass Preserve and Bowditch Point Park with a naturalist. Bring a hat, bug spray,water and a camera. Bowditch Point walks are held from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesdays at 50 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. The walk is free with paid parking.

Great Rubber Duck Race
