Baby Boot Camps
Bring the baby and get fit, while competing with other moms and with other Baby Boot Camp moms nationally. The Fitness Challenge runs February through April at Cape Harbour and Cape Coral High School.

CHADD
CHADD is the nation’s leading non-profit organization serving people of all ages affected by Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD).
CHADD of Lee County is a local chapter of the national organization. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday (with the exception of November) of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at Lee Memorial Hospital Auditorium, 2776 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers.
Lymphedema Education Awareness group
Saturday, Feb. 14, Lymphedema Education Awareness Support Group., 10:30 a.m. to noon. Speaker is Ellen Poage, ARNP, CLT-LANA on lymphedema treatment with Riancorp Laser LTU-904. Held at the Regional Cancer Center, Lee Memorial Health System, 8931 Colonial Center Drive (just off exit 136, I-75) behind the Colonial Bank. Group is open to all who are at risk of developing lymphedema and those coping with it. Information: call 992-4965.
Gulf Coast Medical Center
The Community Open House on Feb. 14, where community members are invited to tour the new Gulf Coast Medical Center. The center opens on March 8.
At the same time, both Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center and the old Gulf Coast Hospital will officially close to patients. Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center ED will relocate to the new location on March 8, and the Emergency Department will also relocate to Gulf Coast Medical Center on the corner of Metro and Daniels Parkway.

A lecture and panel discussion will be held Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. A discussion on Autism: how to begin after a diagnosis, what to add to existing treatments, and how to stay inspired.

The 2009 MS Walk will take place on Feb. 21, at Lakes Park in Fort Myers.
Lee Mental Health names new director of Acute Care Services
Lee Mental Health Center today named Sofia Adams as the new director of Acute Care Services for its Vista campus located on Deer Run Farms Road off Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers.
In her new role, Adams will be responsible for managing all functions related to delivering quality crisis care services, including designing and implementing clinical services based on best practices in psychiatric care, enhanced by recovery model principles.
Lee Mental Health operates two campuses: the Ruth Cooper campus and VISTA campus. The agency has provided mental health and substance abuse recovery services for Lee County residents since 1969. Lee Mental Health Center Inc. is also a United Way Partner Agency funded, in part, through contracts with the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families, the Lee County Board of Commissioners, private donations and grants from the Cape Coral Community Foundation, Southwest Florida Community Foundation, The Able Trust, Gannett Foundation and the City of Fort Myers.

LARC
LARC, Inc. is in need of a volunteer with bookkeeping experience.
The volunteer will be responsible for the reconciliation of bank statements, reviewing receipts, entries to check log, balances and informing management of discrepancies. The time frame is once a month and volunteer can work at LARC. Minimum age required is College age. The volunteer would need to pass a background report, have excellent references, be trustworthy, honest and work well with others and understand client confidentiality.

Anyone who is a full-time caregiver for a loved one, is invited to attend free caregiver training and education classes in Lee County during the month of February.
