Cape Community Foundation
The Cape Coral Community Foundation announces that the 2009 Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral Junior Leadership Class has been awarded $3,000 for grant distributions to local nonprofit organizations.
The foundation is working closely with the class to educate them on the concept of making grants to agencies that provide services to the Cape community. The class has been giving the challenge of reviewing five local nonprofits who have submitted a grant application. The class will award three $1,000 grants to three agencies of their choice.
Last year the community foundation awarded more than $300,000 in grants and $127,000 in scholarships. To learn more about the leadership program, contact Claudia St. Onge at 549-6900.

Lee County residents working at what they consider a dead-end job or feel they would like to increase their pay and chances for opportunity may want to take advantage of cost-free job training in medical office skills.
The seven-month program starts April 21, and class will graduate in November. Telephone interviews will be accepted now through April 10. The class is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
All applicants must be working, low income, provide proof of high school diploma or GED, pass a basic assessment in reading, language and spelling, and pass a criminal background check.
Successful applicants must have reliable transportation to the classes, which are held 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at High Tech Center Central, 3800 Michigan Ave., Fort Myers.
The L.E.E. program covers all costs for tuition, books and child care during class hours, and assists with resumes and job placement.
