Annual Best Downtown Martini Competition set

Tickets are available for the 3rd Annual Best Downtown Martini Competition, which will be held from 7-11 p.m. Saturday.

Eleven downtown restaurants are competing to mix the best martini and the public is invited to judge. Trolleys will shuttle the martini tasters to each tasting location for martinis and appetizers.

After the sampling is completed, the tasters will cast their ballot on which restaurant made The Best Downtown Martini. Martinis will be judged in three categories including Best Classic Martini, Best Exotic Martini and Best Dessert Martini.

The $20 ticket price includes a passport to all martini sampling locations, appetizers and trolley shuttle service.

The competition locations are Cruiser’s Lounge, Eddie Fish Bowls, Leapin’ Lizard Bar and Grille, Mardi Gras, Monkey Bar and Steakhouse, Paradise Tiki Hut, Pearl Lounge, Ralph’s Place, Scorz Sports Bar, The Dek and Twisted Conch.

Buy tickets at True Value Hardware, June’s Hallmark, John Michael’s Jewelry, Ralph’s Place, Cape Dog Bakery, Leapin’ Lizard, Twisted Conch, Cruiser’s Liquor Mart, Monkey Bar & Steakhouse and Ron’s Barbershop.

Must be 21 to attend event.

Check-in booths open at 6:45 p.m. at Club Square and Big John’s plaza. Attendees may park in any of the locations and then ride the trolleys to the tasting locations.

“Special Designated Driver Tickets” will be sold at the check in booths only starting at 6:45 p.m. for $10 for groups of two or more, which will allow the designated driver to ride the trolley and taste the appetizers.

Visit America Executive Limousine Service will be available from 9 p.m.-midnight to provide drive home service within the city limits for $10 per passenger.

Also, Cape Paradise Resort will have a special room rate of $69 for the night. Call 945-0060 for resort reservations. Spend the night, sleep in and then enjoy brunch in one of the many downtown restaurants.

Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.
