Cape Coral Yacht Club
The following programs will be held at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.
– Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Business by the Numbers. Registration is $29.95 per person.
– Jan. 22 from 7-9 p.m. Recreational boating seminar. Resident fee is $15 and non-residents pay $18.
– Jan. 31 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Kayak fishing for ages 16 and older. Cost is $10 for adults and $15 for children.

Garden Club of Cape Coral
The Garden Club of Cape Coral welcomes members and guests to the Wednesday meeting at 7 p.m. Dan Tudor of the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife and photographer will be the guest speaker for the evening. USA Dance Chapter 6049
USA Dance Chapter 6049 is holding its monthly tea dance Sunday at Camy’s, 2011 N.E. 10th Terrace. The affair starts at 4 p.m. with dance lessons, followed by open dancing from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Refreshments included. Open to the public. Minnesota Club
The Minnesota Club has its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 2911 Del Prado Blvd. It is a potluck so bring a dish to pass for the table and a beverage. – Jan. 23: Take a day cruise from Captiva Island aboard the Lady Chadwich to Cabbage Key. Leave the center at 8:15 a.m. Arrive by 8 a.m. Cost is $84 for members and $94 for non-members.
– Bridge with Mary Greico: Strictly beginners bridge, part II, on Mondays from 10-noon. Cost is $24 for members for six classes and $48 for non-members for six classes. Advanced beginners-intermediate bridge on Fridays from 10-noon. Cost is $4 for members or $8 for non-members.
– Clogging classes with instructor Lee Luberti: Beginner plus from noon-1 p.m. Mondays. Intermediate from 1 to 2 p.m. Mondays. Cost is $6 for members and $10 for non-members.

Indoor flea market
Are you ready to turn your trash into cash? Then get busy cleaning out those closets and emptying out that garage to get in the monthly indoor flea market on the second Saturday of every month. The annual Volunteer Fair, sponsored by the RSVP of Lee County, will be held Jan. 24 at Lakes Regional Library. ‘The Glory of France’

Gulf Writers Association Writing Contest
The Gulf Coast Writers Association takes great pleasure in encouraging writers from Southwest Florida to enter the 2008-2009 Gulf Writers Association Writing Contest. Original works of fiction, nonfiction and poetry will be awarded prizes of $100, $50 and $25 for first, second and third place in each category. The contest is open to members and non-members. Fiction and nonfiction works must be at least 800 words and no more than 2,000. Poetry is limited to 40 lines or less. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31 and winners must be present to receive their awards at the March 28 meeting. The contest will help GCWA fulfill its goal of assisting Southwest Florida writers to stimulate and improve their skills. GCWA expects a high level of contest participation. ‘A Taste of Broadway’
Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is creating a cookbook and is in need of favorite home-cooked recipes. Executive chef Gregory Van Horn and the cast of “Church Basement Ladies” will select the recipes for the upcoming cookbook, “A Taste of Broadway.” The theatre is accepting recipes until Jan. 31. “Church Basement Ladies” is a musical comedy playing through March 29 at The Off Broadway Palm Theatre.
