Roc Day celebration at Cape Coral library
Roc Day is a traditional worldwide event when weavers and spinners bring looms and wheels out of storage after the holidays to resume their craft. It is held each year in January on St. Distaff Day. A “roc” is the distaff on a spinning wheel which holds the wool or flax for spinning. This year’s celebration is on Jan 10 at 10 a.m.
The Weavers of Char-Lee honor the day with demonstrations of weaving, spinning, dyeing and felting. Everyone is invited to bring yarns and needles, wheels and looms, hoops and hooks to join in this celebration of fiber arts.
