Museum of History fund-raiser

By Staff | Nov 10, 2008

On Nov. 8, the Southwest Florida Museum of History Foundation Inc. is teaming up with Lee Memorial Military Support Operations for the Second Annual Veteran’s Day Golf Tournament.

This fund-raiser at the Verandah Golf Club will again help raise money for the museum and co-charity; Lee Memorial Military Support Operations.

This is a wonderful way to display patriotism in your local community. Lee Memorial Military Support Operations honors and aids our local soldiers and their families in a variety of ways. To date, more than 17,000 pounds of care packages have been sent overseas. Lee Memorial Military Support (LMSS) also plans and executes homecoming celebrations, supports families left behind who have been impacted with the rising cost of living, and has set up scholarship funds for children who have lost their parents.

In fact, LMMS has just been awarded an “Above and Beyond” Award in recognition of extraordinary support of its employees who serve in the Florida National Guard and Reserve by the Florida Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense.

The “Above and Beyond” Award is given in limited numbers by state and territory ESGR committees. The ESGR, a Department of Defense organization, recognizes employers at the state and local level who provide extraordinary patriotic support for military duty by their employees.

The Southwest Florida Museum of History brings history to life in Fort Myers through traveling exhibits, educational programs, downtown walking tours, summer camps, regional author evenings and day trips to fun and exciting places throughout Florida.

This tournament offers four-person teams a Scramble with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, Nov. 8, preceded by the ceremonial fly over honoring our men and women in uniform. A portion of the proceeds from this tournament will go to the Lee Memorial Military Support Operations.

Take your best shot at the Hole-in-One and if you make it, take home a gorgeous new Cadillac courtesy of Val-Ward Cadillac!

Mark your calendars for November 8th at Verandah Golf Club and help serve your community and those serving our country!
