Sportsman’s Club

The Sportsman’s Club of Cape Coral will host a Past Commodores ball on Saturday, Oct. 4, 7:30-10:30 p.m. Dick Hamm will provide ballroom music. The public is welcome. Tickets are $7 per person. The club is located at 1401 S.E. 47th St. Bring beverages, setups and ice will be available. Dances are scheduled on the first Saturday of each month. Cape Coral Social Club

Wednesday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m., at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, the Cape Coral Social Club will present a program by Dr. Louis Scala, on Healthy Hearts. The club is also collecting non perishable food items for the Cape Coral Caring Center.

Korean War Veterans Association

The Korean War Veterans Association at VFW Post 8463, 4709 S.E. 11th Place, will meet Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. 

Tracey Galloway, vice president of Development, Edison State College, will discuss the 2008 scholarship award for Michele Mancuso, nursing student, and the methodology for the 2009 scholarship award.

All veterans who have served during the Korea War era within or outside of Korea, or who, as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States during this era are eligible to become a member of Chapter No. 155.



Cape Coral Power Squadron

Cape Coral Power Squadron is hosting a bingo event friday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m., at 917 S.E. 47th Terrace. Lots of games and patterns, at 50 cents per card.

The next general meeting of the Cape Coral Historical Society takes place Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Cultural Park Theatre, 528 Cultural Park Blvd. 2:30 p.m .Guests will be Assistant Police Chief Todd Everly and Captain Val Everly speaking on the history of Cape Coral Police Department. Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida

The Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida’s 19th annual Red Ribbon Luncheon celebrating National Drug Abuse Prevention Week and Drug and Alcohol Free Youth in Lee County Oct. 18, 11:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This takes place at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. Pilot Club of Fort Myers

The Pilot Club of Fort Myers is raising money to increase public awareness of brain injuries – the most frequent cause of disability and death among children and adolescents in the United States.

Saturday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edison State College, the Pilot Club of Fort Myers is inviting the community to participate in their annual auction, an evening of food, raffles and unique auction items.

The cost is $20 per person and includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine, assorted desserts and a margarita bar.
