By Staff | Apr 7, 2008

The AFCAAM fifth annual Charity Classic golf tournament will be Saturday, April 19, at the Verandah Club in East Lee County.

AFCAAM stands for African Caribbean Americans and is a non-profit organization working in the black community of Fort Myers to promote self-reliance and human dignity through the communication of Christian values. The golf tournament proceeds support the organization’s goals.

The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on the Old Orange golf course designed by renowned golf architect Bob Cupp. Following the scramble tournament, participants will enjoy a buffet lunch and awards reception. Registration is $600 per foursome; the registration fee for an individual player is $150.

Prizes will be awarded for the first three places for both men’s and women’s teams. Other prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin and longest drive and a local car dealership will be offering a luxury automobile as a hole-in-one prize. Sponsorships opportunities are available for local businesses.

Verandah Club is on State Road 80 about two miles east of I-75.
