Weiss completes basic infantry training at Fort Benning

Army Pvt. John A. Weiss has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Weiss is the son of John and Donna Weiss of Cape Coral.

The private is a 2007 graduate of Ida S. Baker High School in Cape Coral.



Henke finishes basic training

at Fort Jackson

Army Pfc. William Henke has graduated from Basic Training Camp at Fort Jackson, S.C. He is now in Texas for another 27 weeks of training.

He attended Mariner High School for four years graduating in May 2007. He was a member of the National Honor Society, he played basketball all four years and lettered three of those years and was a co-captain two of those years. He also played baseball and football for three years and lettered in both his junior year. He was in JROTC for three years.

His parents are Max and Karen Murfin.
