Cape Coral residents and visitors can enjoy some good food and support a good cause on Saturday.

The 8th Annual Customer Appreciation Pig Roast will be held from noon to midnight at Anthony’s on the BLVD. The event will feature the pig roast, live entertainment, door prizes and drink specials.

Tony Serrago, the owner of Anthony’s on the BLVD, explained that the annual roast marks the restaurant’s anniversary, as well as serves as a fundraiser for the Save the Ta-tas Foundation in support of breast cancer research. At 40, his sister was diagnosed and underwent a double mastectomy.

“She’s about three years clean right now,” he said.

Last year, between 700 and 800 people showed up over the course of the day.

“We raised over $4,000,” Serrago said.

This year, organizers are hoping to get upward of 1,000 people attending.

“We don’t have a specific goal, but we always like to raise more than we did the year before,” he said.

“Any money raised at all is a good thing,” Serrago added.

Tickets are $8 each and include a plate of pork, coleslaw, baked beans and watermelon. Also, on the back of each one is a coupon for a free breakfast buffet for any Saturday up until the end of 2015.

“You get two meals for the price of one,” he said.

The tickets also make the holders eligible for more than 20 door prizes that will be given away throughout the day. The items range from coolers, T-shirts and gift cards, to arts and crafts.

“It’s not something that they have to be present for,” Serrago said of the door prizes.

A 50/50 raffle will also likely be held.

“We have live entertainment all day long,” he said.

DJ Chris Cammarota will perform from noon to 3 p.m., followed by The Calendar Girls from 3 to 4 p.m. Serrago explained that the dance group has two 20-minute shows planned for attendees. Just For Fun, a ’60s and ’70s band, will play from 4-7 p.m., then Aftermath from 7-11 p.m. with ’70s and ’80s.

“They’ll be the closer for the night,” he said.

Drink specials will be available, including Tony’s Tea. Limit of one glass per person.

“It’s eight liquors for $8,” Serrago said.

There will also be $1 Jello shots and $1 draft beers.

He urged the public to come on out.

“It’s for a very good cause. It’s something that touches everybody’s life,” Serrago said.

“And it’s an opportunity for me to than everybody who has supported me for the last eight years, the employees and the customers and the community,” he added.
