Grand opening planned for Elaine & Mia’s Boutique

14 attorneys named to ‘super lawyers’ and ‘rising stars’ list
Fourteen attorneys at the law firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., were selected for inclusion in the 2009 Florida Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists appearing in Florida Super Lawyers magazine. While only 5 percent of lawyers in the state are named to Florida Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
The multi-phase selection process includes a statewide survey, an independent evaluation, and a peer review of candidates. Rising Stars candidates must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.

Zimmer named Embarq VP and general manager
Erik Zimmer, formerly general manager for Century Tel in the company’s Colorado market, has been named EMBARQ’s vice president and general manager for the southern Florida area. This includes a 10-county area from Avon Park south to Monroe County. He will be based in Fort Myers.
Zimmer will have responsibility for the direction and performance of the new company throughout southern Florida, as well as managing local customer support and growth opportunities.
Zimmer began his telecom career more than nine years ago, and prior to his most recent position, served as a business sales manager for Century Tel in the Colorado market.
The planned merger of Embarq and CenturyTel was announced in October 2008, and the CenturyLink name and logo were announced this month. CenturyLink has an operating presence in 33 states, with approximately 7.7 million access lines, 2 million broadband customers and 400,000 video subscribers.

21 Wounded Fund-raising Event and Poker Run set
Harley-Davidson of Fort Myers is working with the local VFWs to help coordinate the third annual 21 Wounded Fund-raising Event and Poker Run Saturday, July 19. All the funds raised will go towards treating 21 wounded veterans to a weekend of fun at the Pink Shell Resort and Spa on Fort Myers Beach this October.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. with participating bikers leaving Harley-Davidson Fort Myers, located at 2160 Colonial Boulevard, in Fort Myers, at 11 a.m. with the last bike in by 3 p.m. Those riders choosing to participate in the poker run will ride to the Fort Myers Beach VFW, Pine Island VFW and North Fort Myers VFW before returning to Harley-Davidson/Buell of Fort Myers.
Food, adult beverages, vendors, raffles and great prizes are all part of the event. It’s $25 per person to participate and $10 per passenger and the fund raising goal is set at $12,000.
