Barry ‘The Bear’ back at Cat Country
Popular local radio personality Barry “The Bear” Smith returns to Cat Country 107.1 after a brief month-long break, returning Monday evening, March 30, as the station’s new evening personality. The time slot was recently vacated when night air talent “Melanie” moved to mornings, joining Rick McGee’s return for the “McGee In The Morning” program.
“The Bear” has been with WCKT for several different runs, most recently as part of the “Bear and Stacy” morning show which was the wakeup program on Cat Country 107.1 since fall of 2007.
Smith resigned his morning position with WCKT in late February to take a full-time position elsewhere.
Program Director Mark “The Shark” Wilson commented; “Bear has always been a fan favorite with Southwest Florida’s country audience. Having him back on Cat Country, along with the recent return of ‘McGee In The Morning,’ gives WCKT a potent all-star lineup. With these two key additions in the past week, Cat Country 107.1 has solidified itself as the market leader in entertaining, relatable talent.”
“The Bear” will be heard weeknight evenings from 7 p.m. to midnight. “McGee In The Morning” is now heard weekday mornings from 5:30 a.m.-10 a.m. on Cat Country 107.1. WCKT will continue to kick off the workday with 30 Songs In A Row starting every morning at 8:45am. Listen online at www.catcountry1071.com
