Southwest Florida Yachts adds to charter fleet
Southwest Florida Yachts (SWFY) has added two sailing catamarans to its charter fleet, two Gemini 34-footers known for their easy sailing characteristics and generous accommodations.
Final Fling and Purr-Fect Lady join the SWFY sailing fleet at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida, which gives charter customers quick sailing access to the Gulf of Mexico through Boca Grande Pass. The shallow draft of the Gemini 34, only 18-inches with the boards up, also makes these vessels perfect for sailing all four corners of beautiful, sheltered Charlotte Harbor, said SWFY’s Barb Hansen.
With a master cabin, two double-sleeping cabins aft, plus a convertible dinette, each vessel comfortably sleeps up to six persons. Other cruising comforts include large galleys equipped with stove, oven and refrigeration
Both vessels sport a complete array of electronics for navigation including autopilots, depth sounders, speed/distance logs wind instruments, GPS, and VHF marine radios. But, in addition,Final Fling has radar and a generator while Purr-Fect Lady brags about its solar panel and stereo with CD player.
Hansen said each vessel has an outboard-powered dinghy for exploring the corridor of scenic islands and keys on either side of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
SWFY charter customers enjoy sailing and power cruises 12 months a year through a barrier island paradise featuring tropical birds and sea-life such as manatees and dolphins. Magazine articles have ranked Southwest Florida among the top ten yacht sailing and cruising areas in the world and the barrier islands of Sanibel and Captiva as among the best islands to visit for their ambiance, beaches, friendliness, restaurants and scenery.
The newest charter vessels join six other sailboats from 24 to 35 feet in the SWFY sailing fleet. For three days of sailing during the popular winter season Final Fling charters for $1,813 and Purr-Fect Lady charters for $1,648. Through 2010, as part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebration, all sailing and power charters of three days or more receive a free cruising day in the high season and two free cruising days in the summer season.
Southwest Florida Yachts is headquartered at Marinatown Marina in N. Fort Myers as is the power cruising fleet with yachts from 28 to 43 feet.
