28th Annual Lee Art Educators Association Future of Art Exhibit going virtual
Every year, the Lee Arts Educators Association partners with the Alliance for the Arts to put student artwork on display. This year the Future of Art debuts Friday, May 1, and will be only available online. The Alliance for the Arts and Lee Arts Educators Association moved the exhibition to a digital submission process and virtual viewing room to ensure the health and wellness of the greater community.
“This act on behalf of the Alliance for the Arts and FSW, thanks to Lydia Black, Ehren Gerhard and Dana Roes, is monumental for us,” says Lee Arts Educators Association President Samantha Hower. “The Future of Art Exhibit has been around for almost 30 years and the work that they have put into ensuring the show continues for our student artists speaks to their dedication to the future of the arts in Lee County. This opportunity provides us with a much-needed reminder, in our current situation, that the arts in Lee County are alive and well and that we are committed to our student artists.”
The Future of Art: Student Exhibit, will be on display in a virtual gallery through the Alliance for the Arts website, ArtInLee.org. The hundreds of entries include paintings, drawings, photography, computer graphics, mixed media, sculpture and functional ceramics.
Best in Show will be awarded a four-year art major scholarship to Florida Southwestern State College. The awards presentation will be on the Alliance for the Arts Facebook page May 1, at 6 p.m.
Students from Bonita Springs High School, Cape Coral High School, Cypress Lake High School, Estero High School, Fort Myers High School, Ida Baker High School, Island Coast High School, Lehigh Senior High School, Mariner High School, North Fort Myers High School, Riverdale High School and South Fort Myers High School will have their work on display.
This exhibit is sponsored by Florida SouthWestern State College.
