FMPD to increase DUI enforcement
The Fort Myers Police Department will deploy additional officers to patrol city streets looking for impaired drivers. The saturation patrol will take place sometime this coming weekend in an effort make our roadways safer by cracking down on driving under the influence and improve traffic safety through the following remove impaired drivers from the roadway, reduce the likelihood impaired drivers will operate their vehicles on our roadways, heighten awareness and educate the public on the dangers of drunk driving
This and other increased patrol operations are scheduled as part of the Fort Myers Police Department’s strategic plan and on-going efforts to make the streets safer by educating and informing the public on traffic safety issues. Police remind citizens to designate a driver whether you’re meeting friends at a bar or attending a party and if you see an impaired driver on the road call police.
