Woman in vehicle in parking lot has purse stolen by man
A man reportedly robbed a woman of her purse Monday afternoon while she was waiting her husband in their vehicle in a Cape Coral parking lot.
The woman told police that she was fully reclined in the passenger seat of their vehicle, parked in the 500 block of Southeast 47th Terrace, when she heard the driver’s side door open and a man demand that she give him pills.
She tried to lean forward and grabbed for her purse to hand it to him.
The woman said the man snatched the purse out of her hands, closed the driver’s door and fled. The woman exited the vehicle and went inside of the medical facility where her husband was located. The police were contacted.
According to a report, the man stole a light brown Doony & Burke leather purse, a brown wallet, 350 Dilaudid, dental insurance credit cards, other credit cards and $650 in cash. The items are valued at $1,122 in total.
Witnesses reported seeing a blue Jeep Liberty in the parking lot at the time. It was being driven by a woman and there was a man in the passenger’s seat.
Police located the woman’s cell phone on the ground on the passenger’s side. It appeared that the phone fell out of the vehicle when the woman got out.
