Sun Splash Family Waterpark will open its doors after hours Friday, June 24, for guests to partake in an evening of aquatic fun and the movie “Yogi Bear” showing on a giant inflatable movie screen at dusk. The special event, which will take place from 6-10 p.m., is the first of four “Aqua Theatre Nights” to be held at Sun Splash during the 2011 season.

In addition to featuring a family-friendly movie that guests can watch from the Family Pool, all of Sun Splash’s regular attractions will be open, including the park’s three speed slides, plus the Main Stream River, Electric Slide, Cape Fear and Tot Spot for the little ones.

Park admission for “Aqua Theatre Night” is $8 plus tax per Cape Coral resident and $10 plus tax per non-resident, or $5 per person for same day park guests who wish to stay (or return) for the evening’s activities. Season pass holders are admitted free. Parking is not included.

“After receiving such a positive response to the select movie nights that were held last spring, we decided to incorporate monthly ‘Aqua Theatre Nights’ into this season’s schedule,” said Sandra Greiner, waterpark manager. “We are hopeful that the extra Friday night hours the fourth Friday of the month and the affordable ticket prices will allow an even greater portion of the community to come out and enjoy Sun Splash this year.”

Sun Splash is currently open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Aug. 7. Additional “Aqua Theatre Nights” will be held the fourth Friday of the month through September from 6-10 p.m. (weather permitting) with a different movie showing each month.
