Cape Coral Toll Plaza Demolition/Reconstruction – Construction began on the demolition and reconstruction of the toll plaza. Crews are installing

signs and mobilizing to begin construction on the plaza. Lanes 1 through 4 are open for westbound traffic and the eastbound lanes are shifted to the north. Effective immediately, “oversized load” trucks are NOT permitted through the travel lanes of Cape Coral Toll plaza (in either direction). This includes oversized load trucks with State permits. Oversized load truckers should use the Midpoint or north bridges for access to Fort Myers while the toll plaza is under construction.

I. Road & Bridge Projects

Colonial Blvd (CR 884) Six Laning from I-75 to State Rd 82 (approx. 2.7 miles in length) – Construction activities began Monday, Aug. 10, 2009. Proposed work consists of widening an existing four-lane highway facility, to a six-lane urbanized divided highway. This will include the installation of street lighting, signalization, bridge widening and utility modifications. Two 8-foot-wide asphalt multi-use sidewalks along the north and south sides of the road will be added. The tentative completion date is August, 2011. Daniels Parkway Six Laning – Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard –

Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard. This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection. Please drive with care and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. Crews are working in the Daniels Parkway median between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard. Chamberlin Parkway is temporarily closed between Daniels Parkway and Air Cargo Lane until the intersection construction is completed. Chamberlin Parkway traffic is detoured to Paul J. Doherty Parkway for access to Chamberlin Parkway and Skyplex Commercial Center while this

work is underway. Variable message boards and detour signs are posted to direct traffic.

Through fall 2011, Chana Court will be closed at Daniels Parkway for crews to install signals and construct the north side of the Chamberlin Parkway intersection. Local traffic will be permitted access to Chana Court from Treeline Avenue.

The majority of the widening along Daniels Parkway will take place within the median along with some minor shoulder widening and turn lane construction occurring along the outside lanes.

Motorists should expect eastbound and westbound lane closures on Daniels Parkway between Chamberlin Parkway and Gateway Boulevard during nighttime/overnight work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (excluding Friday night/overnight, Saturday night/overnight and Sunday night/overnight).

Landscaping within the median will be installed as part of the project. In addition, this project will mill and resurface Daniels Parkway from Treeline Avenue to Fuel Farm Road. The roadway work is expected to be complete in February 2012. The contractor is Better Roads, Inc. Matlacha Bridge – The replacement of the Matlacha Bridge began October 11, 2010. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge with reduced lane widths; the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained during daylight hours. Midpoint Memorial Toll Plaza Demolition/Reconstruction – Construction on the toll plaza is nearly complete. All lanes, both east and westbound, at the Midpoint Toll Plaza are open. The bike path is now open. Emergency access is available for authorized vehicles on the east end of the toll plaza via the parking lot. The project is expected to be complete by June, 2011. Six Mile Cypress Parkway Four Laning Daniels Parkway to south of Winkler Road – Weather permitting, crews will be installing underground utilities at the Penzance Boulevard intersection beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday morning, June 13 through 5 p.m. on Friday, June 17.

This work requires a full closure of Penzance Boulevard at Six Mile Cypress Parkway for approximately one week. Southbound Six Mile Cypress Parkway traffic is shifted to the east just south of Heritage Palms Boulevard. Please drive with care and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway. This project will widen the two-lane section of Six Mile Cypress to a four-lane divided highway. This work will include the installation of a signalized

intersection at Penzance Boulevard and the addition of a paved path along the west side of the roadway from Heritage Palms to Daniels Parkway. The tenatative completion date is December 2011. If you have any questions, please contact Cella Molnar & Associates, Inc. at (239) 337- 1071.

Summerlin Road – from Cypress Lake Drive to Boy Scout Road – Work is underway to complete the overpass, place final asphalt, signs and pavement markings. Project completion is June, 2011.

Big Carlos Bridge #120028, on Bonita Beach Rd. over Big Carlos Pass – Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the concrete repairs and overlay project for Big Carlos Bridge. The job is scheduled to start May 2, 2011, and finish July, 2011, weather permitting. There will be single lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Variable message boards will be placed to alert drivers to bridge closures. Cape Coral Bridge #124044, on College Parkway, WB, over Caloosahatchee -Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the concrete repairs and overlay project for Cape Coral Bridge. The job is scheduled to start March 21st, 2011 and finish July, 2011, weather permitting.

III. Landscaping

US 41 Landscaping – Lee County DOT Operations will be managing the installation of irrigation and landscaping along U.S. 41, between Littleton Road and the Charlotte County Line. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2011. Lane closures and traffic
