Fund-raiser planned for officer Damien Garcia in Port Charlotte
A fund-raiser to benefit the family of Cape Coral Police Officer Damien Garcia will be held Sunday, Aug. 9, at Rascals Loony Bin in Port Charlotte. Officer Damien Garcia was critically injured on duty when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on Cultural Park Boulevard on June 2. While Garcia remains in a coma in a Miami hospital, he continues to show some encouraging signs as he works to recover from his devastating injuries. His family has been extremely moved by the outpouring of public support and the continued prayers being offered on behalf of Garcia.
Entertainment will be provided by “Uncle Fester,” a rock and dance party band featuring Cape Coral Police Officer Mikal Jahaaski on drums. Rascals Loony Bin is located at 1182 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.
“Uncle Fester” will begin playing at 3 p.m., and there will be raffles and prizes, including a half-day fishing trip and dinner certificates. Anyone who would like to donate prizes for the raffle, please e-mail bandinfo@festerrocks.com. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Garcia’s family.
