Four named to Harry Chapin Food Bank board
Four leaders in Lee County have been selected to lead the Harry Chapin Food Bank Board of Directors for the 2009-2010 period. They are President Jo Anna Bradshaw, Florida Gulf Coast University; Vice President Keith Scoggins, Attorney, retired general counsel, Farm Credit System; Treasurer Sandy Robinson, president, Northern Trust Bank; and Secretary Noelle Melanson, attorney, Phoenix Law.
The four officers will lead the 14-member board during a year in which there is an unusually large increase in need and requests for food from their network of over 160 nonprofit participating agencies throughout Southwest Florida. The food that Harry Chapin Food Bank distributes to their agencies feeds more than 20,000 people monthly and is nearing distribution of nearly five million pounds and other grocery products annually.
Numerous businesses and non-profit organizations organize and hold food drives and fund-raising activities on behalf of the Harry Chapin Food Bank. In May, the National Association of Letter Carriers, in its 17th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive, collected about 425,000 pounds of food for the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Lee County; all this food will stay in Lee County for distribution to those in need.
