FMPD to conduct driver’s licence check
The Fort Myers Police Department will be conducting a driver’s license checkpoint sometime this week. The exact location of the checkpoint will not be disclosed in advance. All vehicles entering the checkpoint will be stopped and officers will check drivers for a current license and registration.
This type of checkpoint is designed to detect and apprehend drivers who do not have a valid license or who may have a suspended or revoked license. Also, it is designed to detect those who have not registered or insured their vehicle.
Police remind city drivers to allow extra time to get to their destination because delays should be expected.
