Tip A Cop to Benefit Special Olympics
The public is invited to join Southwest Florida law enforcement at the annual “Tip A Cop” fund-raiser at Joe’s Crab Shack in Fort Myers. The event benefits local Special Olympics athletes.
Law enforcement professionals will serve as celebrity greeters and waiters for from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Joe’s Crab Shack, 2024 W. First St., Fort Myers.
Joe’s Crab Shack will donate 10 percent of diners’ checks to Special Olympics Florida if they bring in and present the attached flier to their server.
Special Olympics also benefits from the annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run” scheduled for Friday, May 1st. The Torch Run is an intra-state relay involving more than 300 agencies throughout 67 counties in Florida. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office headquarters located at 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway and ends at the Big Lots parking lot at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Pondella Road in North Fort Myers. Participation is restricted to law enforcement and first responder agencies.
Last year Lee County law enforcement raised nearly $10,000 for Special Olympics at the Tip A Cop benefit. T-shirts and hats will be on sale in the Joe’s Crab Shack lobby. Shirts are $12 and hats are $10.
