Additional beam installation to force closure of portion of I 75
Interstate 75 from Corkscrew Road to Alico Road will close beginning at 9:30 Thursday night, March 26, to 5 a.m. Friday morning, March 27, while crews continue beam installation on Lee County’s Estero Parkway Extension Project.
The eighth of 12 smaller steel beams and the third of four larger steel beams are expected to ship tonight and arrive at the project site late tonight. The delivery of both beams will be by slow-moving, wide-load trucks escorted by law enforcement, and will be entering Lee County via I-75.
During the closure, northbound interstate traffic will be diverted onto Corkscrew Road and up Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, and southbound interstate traffic will be diverted onto Alico Road and down Three Oaks Parkway.
Information about the interstate closures will also be posted on the electronic message signs in the work area. Information about future beam deliveries and installations will be released as it becomes known.
