Sheriff’s deputies search for robbery suspects

By Staff | Mar 2, 2009

On Sunday, March 1, at approximately 4:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call in reference to an armed home invasion at a Perth Court residence in North Fort Myers. Upon arrival, deputies met with the two victims, who are owners of the Ortiz Flea Market.

The victims told deputies they had just returned home from the business and were in the process of unloading their vehicle when a red Mustang pulled into their driveway at a high rate of speed. Two male subjects jumped out of the vehicle and approached the victims. The suspects threw the victims to the ground.

At this point, one of the suspects removed a white ceramic Chanel J12 double diamond bezel watch from the wrist of one of the victims. The watch (photo attached) is valued at approximately $33,000.

After ransacking several rooms in the residence, the suspects removed a cardboard bank box containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects then fled the area in their vehicle.

The suspects are described as wearing blue and white bandanas over their faces with eye holes cut out. Both suspects were armed with handguns. Their vehicle is described as a late 1980s Mustang with a new “candy apple red” paint job, aftermarket rear spoiler, oversized chrome rims (larger rims on the rear tires) and modified exhaust.

If you know anything about this crime, you’re asked to call Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
