First wall going up on new police headquarters on Tuesday
Balfour Beatty, the construction manager for the Police Headquarters, will begin lifting the wall panels for the new building on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Cranes and other equipment are scheduled to be onsite by early morning, and rigging and other set-up work will begin at 7 a.m. The first wall will be lifted at 8 a.m. Please note that the schedule is flexible and subject to wind conditions.
City Council approved construction of the $19 million Police Headquarters in August. The facility will be 100,000 square feet.
The public and media are invited to view the lifting of the three-story, 58-foot wall on Tuesday morning. An observation area will be located near the construction office just off Southeast 11th Street near Cultural Park Boulevard. Visitors should not wander to other areas of the site for safety reasons. Parking is available near the construction trailer and on the vacant lot just north of the site.
