Special Populations Buddy Bowling

The city of Cape Coral’s Special Populations program provides continuing education, employment training and recreation for persons with developmental disabilities. Special Populations will be having their Buddy Bowling on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at Friendship Lanes on Del Prado Boulevard. Nearly 80 participants are expected to attend. This event is for members of the Special Populations program and their family and friends.

Flag Day celebration

Flag Day celebration will be held Sunday June 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Metz Funeral Chapel, 1306 Lafayette St., Meet “Betsy Ross” and “Uncle Sam.” Free flags for children. Adults can bring in torn or weathered American Flag and receive a free American Flag to replace it.

Belly dance class

Belly dance class for teens and adult. Have fun learning the ancient art and modern styles of this dynamic dance with professional Belly Dancer and 2002 Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Danse Orientale award recipient Na’ila (Sherry Coffey). Festival of Dance

Dance Bochette and Gulfcoast Dance present the annual Festival of Dance, Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m., at Bishop Verot High School’s Anderson Theater.

This year’s performance features the ballet “Polovetsian Dances,” excerpts from “Swan Lake” and original modern and tap works by faculty choreographers. Performers range in age from 3 through adult.

Gardening event

Get into gardening on June 19 and 20, at ECHO’s Tropical Fruit Nursery, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday. This event will feature workshops for both new and experienced gardeners. All workshops will be offered free of charge.

Take part in free tropical gardening workshops such as Organic Gardening, Fruit Tree Grafting, Summer Vegetable Gardening, Herbs, Container Gardening, Earthworm Castings-Natural fertilizer and Bamboo.

The regularly scheduled guided tour of ECHO’s Global Demonstration Farm will still be available at 10 am.

Southwest Florida Museum of History

Explore three of the Travel Channel’s top 10 places of mystery right here in Lee County. The Southwest Florida Museum of History continues hosting the popular Forbidden History Exhibit through June 20. This exhibit features 35 replicas of historical anomalies, mysteries and their stories.

Among them, the Crystal Skulls of South and Central America that served as the backdrop for the popular 2008 movie: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Also on the list are crop circles and the exhibit’s showpiece, the Ark of the Covenant.
